Appeals Management Team
- Encore’s appeals team is made up of medical professionals from a variety of backgrounds to ensure an
interdisciplinary approach, including nurses and therapists. - Multiple team members are Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator (“RAC-CT”) certified to assist with
MDS related questions. - Team members have an average of eight (8) years of experience with therapy-related audits and appeals.
- Each facility has an assigned dedicated appeals specialist with vast knowledge of various payer audit and
appeal processes and current regulatory standards, to assist with medical record requests/audits and to appeal denials. - Utilizes an internal tracking system to promote best outcomes and ensure each case is timely addressed.
Status reports on activity can be shared with the customer to ensure a collaborative approach. - Can provide feedback based on identified trends with audits and appeals to work to proactively reduce
denial outcomes.

Fiscal Year 2023 SNF PPS Final Rule
CMS released the FY2023 SNF PPS Final Rule in July, containing good news. The final rule includes an aggregate increase in payment of +2.7% rather than the proposed reduction. The increase is due to a +5.1% update (proposed was +3.9%) to the based rates and a decrease to the proposed Parity Adjustment. The originally proposed parity adjustment was -4.6%; CMS is implementing -2.3% in FY2023 and the remaining -2.3% in FY2024.
